Maggie and David! They are a super sweet and laid back couple who loves to laugh. Also, David is a Red Sox fan, so we obviously got along very well. I loved shooting with these two -and their friends! (Side note: I also shot the elopement of one of Maggie’s bridesmaids!)
This wedding was in the downtown district of Cary, North Carolina. There are lots of quaint, small town details along Academy Street, but these two chose the perfect venues for a modern twist. Maggie got ready with the bridesmaids at Chatham Station, which was where they also held their reception. It’s a chic contemporary venue with flexible indoor/outdoor space, one of my favorites!
For David, the day started by getting ready with his groomsmen at his parents’ house. We did a few pictures of the guys getting ready and also some family shots. Then, I headed over to Chatham Station where Maggie was getting ready with her bridesmaids. I took some getting ready pictures of the girls, the dresses, THE dress, and flowers.
From Chatham Station, we walked the short walk down Academy Street to the Mayton Inn for the actual wedding ceremony. There was no first look, we just went right into the main event! The bride and groom opted to have their wedding ceremony on the terrace at the Mayton Inn. It was an absolutely gorgeous day, though pretty warm and bright in the sun, so we were soooooo thankful for the sunbrellas!
After the ceremony, we did group portraits of the wedding party at the Mayton Inn as well. Maggie and David’s wedding party pictures are some of my all time favorites!!! When we wrapped up the group portraits, the wedding party went down the reception at Chatham Station and the bride and groom stayed behind for couple’s portraits. We made some lovely pictures inside at Peck and Plume and outside in the gardens as well. And of course candid photos the whole way down Academy Street from the Mayton Inn to Chatham Station, including a stop at the Page Walker House for some more portraits.
When the bride and groom arrived at Chatham Station for their wedding reception, the first dance commenced. After that, Maggie changed into a second (more dance-friendly) dress for the rest of the night. Maggie and David’s reception was the BEST party.
