RALEIGH WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER | FRED FLETCHER PARK | CANNON ROOM | MARGARET AND JEFF

Margaret and Jeff

Margaret and Jeff were quite possibly one of the most fun couples to work with. They hosted not one, but TWO parties!!! June 1st, 2019 was a BIG day!!!

The first was an on-location BBQ luncheon following their simply beautiful ceremony at Fred Fletcher Park. We started off the day getting ready at the Borden House at Fred Fletcher, the groom upstairs and the bride downstairs. When it was time, they did a super private first-look on one of the walkways, and it was SO DARN CUTE. We grabbed a bunch of the family and wedding party photos before the ceremony, which was SO BEAUTIFUL. SItuated in the middle of the park, the bride and groom’s friends and family formed a horseshoe around the couple, giving off the most intimate and cozy feel EVER. Afterwards, there were lawn games, barbecue (Ole Time Barbecue), and popsicles (Locopops!!!), all complemented by live music and it made for a super entertaining afternoon - despite the random ten minute downpour right in the middle of it!

Later that same day, there was an after party at The Cannon Room in downtown Raleigh, with more catering (Rocky Top Catering), drinks (Celebration Sidekicks), and lots of dancing (Thank you so much, Jenni B with Stylus S.E. LLC). And not just any ol’ dancing, but the bride danced with her father to an upbeat tune that got the whole party started!!!

memorable moments

One of the especially memorable aspects of this wedding was how much Margaret and Jeff valued the company and joy of their friends and family. They actually live in Texas, but chose to get married in Raleigh to celebrate with all of their loved ones.

Speaking of loved ones, Margaret used to live with her grandfather and sweet dog Addy, whose reunion I was excited to capture inbetween portraits before the ceremony. Another significant element of this engaging spring wedding was that the bride wore a very special heirloom necklace. Everyone in the family has worn it since the 1800s! What an amazing way to connect your heritage to one of the most memorable days of your life!

On that note, recognizing tradition while keeping a wedding modern is a delicate balance. We made some stunning contemporary lifestyle portraits of the bride and groom around downtown Raleigh before the after party -and they will make your heart swell.

Congratulations, Margaret and Jeff! It was such a pleasure to photograph your fun-filled celebration in Raleigh and I wish you a future overflowing with love and joy. Can you come back now for a reunion please????? ;)
