Samantha and Derick

On October 19th, 2019… 11 years and 364 days after their first date… Samantha and Derick tied the knot. How amazing is it that EXACTLY 12 years after their first date, they would wake up married to each other? And what a beautiful wedding it was! A little bit rustic (those bricks!!!), a little bit country (the boots!!!), and a little bit classic (Tiffany blue!!!) all woven together with special personal touches to make this gorgeous fall day the most lovely autumn wedding for them.

Before we dive into all of the unique details, I just want to mention Samantha and Derick’s sweet daughter Kyla, who at the time was in 3rd grade. Kyla made the ring box that you’ll see in the first set of photos when you scroll down. She was in the wedding and had an active role in the ceremony. Plus, she proved to be super duper helpful all day long! There was a special family dance including Kyla just after the traditional first dance, which cemented the fact that this really was a day about being a family.

Speaking of family, everyone in their neighborhood family came to the wedding as well. Coincidentally, the neighborhood they live in is Reynolds Mill, which was MY neighborhood when I first moved to North Carolina! What a small world!

One very special thing to note was the bride’s necklace. The necklace had been a gift that her dad gave to her mom on her mom’s 16th birthday. It’s beautiful and holds a lot of sentiment; so it added a charming and thoughtful heritage note to the day.

Almost everything was put together by Samantha. Which is an amazing feat to take on, for sure. She incorporated the Tiffany blue color into all of the tables and accessories, and even Kyla’s dress. The lyrics to one of their favorite songs were on the backdrop for the ceremony. Since the couple was not particularly enthusiastic about flowers, Samantha found Novel Hearts Book Bouquets to make her bridal bouquet from the pages of The Neverending Story! How creative is that?! So. Creative!

The reception was super fun with catering by Rockytop Hospitality Catering and music by Cool Receptions.  There was tons of dancing, a small sampling of which can be seen towards the end of this post just before the photos of the sendoff. Which was incredibly romantic… there were street lights and bubbles. Bubbles EVERYWHERE. Bubbles during the day are fun, but bubbles at night are oh so dreamy.
