YOUNGSVILLE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER | MASON STREET MANOR | KIM & SHAWN

Kim and Shawn. This couple is amazing. There is SO MUCH joy wrapped up in this post about Kim and Shawn’s wedding. Maybe it’s because they had TWO WEDDING DAYS! A bright side to the pandemic! From their engagement shoot through their most recent reception last spring, we have had nothing but fun times making pictures together! Let’s start with their engagement photos.

I’m soooo excited to share these images. Kim and Shawn are the only couple I’ve ever had who got in a body of water for their pictures. No, not just strolling through a shallow pond. They wholeheartedly walked into the lake -up to their shoulders -in their everyday clothes. It was so spontaneous. And beyond dreamy with the gorgeous sunset behind the trees around the lake. These two love the water. Which turned out to be perfect for their second wedding day. Read on…

Now, let’s flip back to Spring of 2020 when the pandemic started. Kim and Shawn’s wedding on April 25, 2020 was the first wedding for Rose Trail Images during Covid-19. It was a really uncertain time with a lot of anxiety over the virus. But this couple would not let that get in the way of their vows. They were resourceful and resilient and flexible and creative in all the ways to make sure they got married on their schedule.

And what awesome memories! Their wedding took place on the front porch of their home in Youngsville, North Carolina. They crafted garland out of photos of people who could not attend given the circumstances. Friends and family who were still able to attend, lined the front yard in their cars, honking horns in acceptance. The ceremony ended with a fireball shot, which they gave out as favors at the end of the event. It was a short, socially distanced affair.

Without further ado, let’s fast forward to Spring 2021. Kim and Shawn were able to “get married” with the wedding they had originally planned on April 24, 2021, almost exactly one year from their original date. Their second wedding day took place at the stunning Mason Street Manor. The ceremony was essentially the same, fireball shots and all, except that Kim had her actual wedding dress on this time and her two kids made up the bridal party. Oh, and it rained. Which was no problem for this bride and groom who fully embraced the drizzle resulting in some of my favorite rainy day pictures! How fun are their portraits under an umbrella on the lawn??? So. Very. Fun!

Each one of these days was full of love and laughter, as I’m sure there will be for many years to come.

Congratulations, Kim and Shawn!
